Not every workplace needs a full Mental Health First Aid course or a team of accredited mental health first aiders.

Sometimes, you simply want to give your team some practical information, build confidence around a particular topic, or create an opportunity to start conversations about mental health.

That's why I've introduced Mental Health Toolbox Sessions at The Kettle's On Learning.

A flexible option for busy teams

We know that finding the time and budget for a full Mental Health First Aid course isn't always easy.

For some businesses, taking people away from their usual roles for a full course simply isn't practical. Others may be looking to introduce some mental health education without making a larger commitment.

That's where a Toolbox Session can be a great place to start.

These sessions are shorter, focused and can be tailored to the needs of your team, making it easier to fit some valuable mental health learning into a busy workplace.

What are Mental Health Toolbox Sessions?

Toolbox Sessions are short, focused, information-based sessions designed to give your team practical knowledge around a specific mental health topic. Sessions can be tailored to suit your workplace and can cover topics such as:

  • Recognising the signs that someone may be struggling

  • Starting conversations about mental health

  • Supporting yourself and others

  • Understanding anxiety and depression

  • Mental health in the workplace

  • Building confidence around mental health conversations

Practical, not clinical

The sessions are designed to be practical, easy going and non-clinical.

They're not about turning people into mental health professionals. Instead, they are intended to provide useful information and help people feel more comfortable talking about mental health and recognising when someone may need some additional support.

A Toolbox Session can be delivered as a standalone session or can complement other workplace wellbeing initiatives, including Mental Health First Aid training.

The Kettle's On Learning

My approach is straightforward, practical and conversational. I believe that talking about mental health shouldn't have to feel complicated or intimidating.

And while a full Mental Health First Aid course can be a fantastic investment, it's not the only way to start building mental health awareness within your team.

Sometimes, a little bit of knowledge is a really good place to start.
